Tragedy in Western Iowa
We are deeply saddened by the horrific impact of the devastating storms that tore through western Iowa.. To the families of those who were affected, we
extend our deepest sympathies and concern. To the leaders, Scouts, and emergency personnel who responded so quickly and effectively, we extend our sincerest gratitude.

Echota District Spring Camporee – Theme: Environmental Science
200+ Scouts and Leaders from the Echota District – GSMC attending the Spring Camporee held at Buffalo Springs Wildlife Management Area in Rutledge, TN this past weekend, May 2nd thru May 4th . Scouts participated in several events that included Discovery Scavenger Hunt, Scouts learned to differentiate among different kinds of plants, animals, including signs of their presence., Forest Inventory, Scouts learned to read the history and understand the growth dynamics of a forest ecosystem, Recycle Relay, Scouts learned the importance of participate in recycling programs, Oil Spill Cleanup, where Scouts learned the method that could be used to reduce the effects of an oil spill on waterfowl, Nature Hike Scouts learned to see the impact they have on the environment when they are careless, Protected March Drawbridge, where Scouts learned how marshes are critically important to wildlife habitats.
Congratulations to these Troops for their effort in these events:
Over 150 Scouts, leaders and adults helped with placing flags on 9000 graves at the Knoxville National Cemetery this morning, Sat., May 24th. This was a great service project showing our respect for the veterans who served our country.
